Ziplining in Los Cabos means flying over desert canyons in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna, where a series of cables stretch between rocky outcrops and ridge tops. A typical tour includes six to eight ziplines of increasing length and speed, a suspension bridge, and often a final 'Superman' line that you fly head-first. The combination of desert scenery, fast cables, and professional guiding makes this one of the most popular adventure activities in Cabo.
What It Is
A guided canopy zipline tour at a mountain park about 30 minutes from Cabo San Lucas. Tours include six to eight ziplines of varying length, a suspension bridge, and a final high-speed 'Superman' style line that can stretch 400 meters or more. Professional guides handle all the clipping, braking, and safety checks; participants wear a full harness, helmet, and gloves. Most tours include round-trip hotel transport, all gear, and bottled water. Photo and video packages are sold separately.
Why Go
Cabo ziplining pairs the adrenaline of high-speed cables with scenery that is unlike anywhere else — desert canyons, cactus-studded ridgelines, and views all the way to the Sea of Cortez on clear days. The variety of lines (short and slow to long and fast) keeps the experience interesting throughout. The Superman line is a genuine thrill, and the suspension bridge adds a different kind of challenge. It is one of the best-value adventure activities in Los Cabos.
What to Expect
Most operators pick up at Cabo hotels and drive 30 to 45 minutes to the zipline park in the Sierra de la Laguna foothills. After a safety briefing and gear fitting, you will hike a short trail to the first platform. Guides clip you in and send you down each line, with a guide on the receiving platform to brake you. The full tour takes two to three hours on the cables, plus transport. Expect some hiking between platforms and between lines, often on uneven terrain. Total time is three to four hours.
Best For
Adventure travelers, families with kids 8 and up (most operators have minimum weight and age requirements), groups, and anyone wanting an adrenaline-filled half day. No prior zipline experience is needed — the guides handle all the technical work. Not appropriate for travelers with serious fear of heights, heart conditions, back or neck issues, or anyone below the minimum weight (typically 60 to 90 pounds) or above the maximum (typically 250 to 280 pounds).
Insider Tips
Wear closed-toe shoes with grip — you will hike between platforms on rocky trails. Bring a small hip pack or secured pockets; loose items fall out on the ziplines. The Superman line is optional — tell the guide if you want to skip it. Mornings are cooler and clearer; afternoons in summer are hot. Photo packages are expensive but worth it since you cannot bring your own camera on the lines. Book early for spring break and Christmas weeks.
What to Bring
Closed-toe shoes (required), long pants (recommended — harnesses can chafe in shorts), a t-shirt or light long-sleeve shirt, sunglasses with a strap, sunscreen applied before arrival, a small secured hip pack for keys and phone, water, and cash for tips, photos, and souvenirs. Leave loose items, large cameras, and dangling jewelry at the hotel — anything not secured will fall off during the ride.
Cabo Ziplining — FAQ
What are the weight and age limits?
Most Cabo zipline operators require participants to be at least 8 years old and weigh between 60 and 250 pounds (some go up to 280). Maximum waist circumference limits also apply due to harness sizing. Check the specific operator's requirements before booking.
Do I need prior zipline experience?
No. The guides handle all the clipping, unclipping, and braking. You just sit in the harness and enjoy the ride. A safety briefing at the start covers everything you need to know, including how to position your body and how the braking works.
Is it safe for someone afraid of heights?
That depends on the severity of the fear. The platforms are secure and the guides are reassuring, but you will be high above canyon floors and standing on open platforms. Travelers with serious fear of heights may want to start with a smaller canopy tour or skip the activity entirely.
What is the Superman line?
A longer, faster zipline that you ride head-first in a horizontal 'Superman' position, often 400 meters or more in length. It is the highlight of the tour for most riders. The Superman line is optional — you can skip it if you prefer the standard seated position.
Can I bring my own camera?
Generally no — loose cameras and phones fall out during the ride and most operators prohibit them on the lines. Some operators allow GoPro cameras mounted to a helmet or chest harness. Photo and video packages shot by the operator's photographers are available for purchase after the tour.
